Rick Astley’s career has been nothing short of remarkable – from his global breakthrough in 1987 to a comeback that has once again taken him to the top of the charts. After his iconic debut album and BRIT Award win in the 1980s, Rick stepped away from the spotlight for a time. But in 2016, he made a triumphant return with the album 50, and has since continued to enjoy major success — including collaborations with the Foo Fighters and Blossoms, as well as acclaimed performances at Glastonbury and other major festivals.

It’s a big deal to book such an iconic pop artist as Rick Astley. 80s fashion has made a comeback, and it’s great to see that music from that era is also enjoying a revival. At the same time, he’s so much more than his classic hits – his music bridges generations, just as we at Liseberg strive to do, says Johan Gummesson, talent booker at Liseberg.

Over the past year, Rick Astley has sold out arenas across the UK, released his bestselling autobiography Never, and taken his big band swing tour to prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Henley Festival. With his unique blend of timeless pop songs and love of swing, Rick has repeatedly proven himself to be an artist who transcends generations.

On 22 May, the audience can look forward to an evening filled with nostalgia, energy and musical joy as one of pop’s most beloved voices takes to the Stora Scenen at Liseberg.

At festivals, clubs – and everywhere. Dare to Care is primarily about creating a social culture that advocates communication, mutuality and consent in sexual relationships. In practice this involves working to establish norms and values and provide practical safety measures together with organisers, as well as talking to audiences at venues.

We have joined this alliance, and together with other members of Greentopia we will actively work to reduce the climate impact of our own events and strive to encourage visitors and other stakeholders to contribute to the goal of making cities climate-neutral by 2030. Our focus is on food and drink, transport and textiles.
