With over four decades of uncompromising energy, social critique and mosh‑pit history behind them, the American crossover legends Suicidal Tendencies bring their iconic genre mix to the heart of Gothenburg – in what will also be the band’s first show in Sweden in ten years.

Handy to know

Suicidal Tendencies

Formed in the early 1980s in Venice, California, Suicidal Tendencies have since continually evolved and become a defining name in the borderland between hardcore punk, thrash metal and funk. The band broke through with their self‑titled debut album Suicidal Tendencies (1983) and are perhaps best known for songs such as Institutionalized and You Can’t Bring Me Down. Since then, the band have been awarded multiple gold records, Grammy nominations and a place in the Skateboard Hall of Fame – a testament to their strong connection to both music and the subculture surrounding skateboarding.

– In Gothenburg, rock has an obvious place, from raw punk to metal and alternative rock. Being able to present Suicidal Tendencies at Liseberg feels fantastic; it will undoubtedly be one of the summer’s most memorable evenings, says Johan Gummesson, artist booker at Liseberg.

Over the years, Suicidal Tendencies have been a breeding ground for some of the most highly respected names in the music world, including Robert Trujillo, Thundercat, Josh Freese and Brooks Wackerman. Live, Suicidal Tendencies are known for their high tempo and an expression that remains close to the band’s roots in the American hardcore scene. Despite their long history, the band still deliver with the same intensity and aggression as they did in the early 1980s.

On 30 June, a concert awaits at Liseberg where precision meets chaos: fierce riffs, funky bass lines and Mike Muir’s charismatic presence at the centre. This isn’t nostalgia – it’s a band that still plays as if everything is on the line.
